League 1’s Portsmouth will be travelling to Wetherby Road on Monday to evening to face National League’s Harrogate hopping to win the match in order to avoid embarrassment or the need for a replay.

When Harrogate host the Pompey on Monday night, they will be hoping to reach the second round of this famous competition, which is the furthest they have ever been, for the first time since their disappointing penalty shoot defeat back in 2012.

Harrogate currently sit 7th place in the National League and are just four points off league leaders Bromley. Harrogate has been particularly good at home, shipping just eight goals in ten games. On the other hand Portsmouth will be travelling to Wetherby Road having won just one game out of seven on their travels this term scoring only 6 goals in the process.

Harrogate Town

Harrogate has reported no fresh injuries ahead of this match. The ultra-experienced Jon Stead, who famously notched twice for Bradford against Chelsea in this competition back in 2015, should feature prominently.

Portsmouth is expected to be without Craig MacGillivray, while Ross McCrorie is also sidelined.
